What is Stride for the Pride?
Stride for the Pride is an active challenge set by Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity which invites fantastic fundraisers to take on three distances across the Pride of Yorkshire this summer.
Whatever your ability, wherever you roam and whenever you’d like – this challenge welcomes explorers of all ages as you walk, run, bike, skate or skip your way across the trail. We’ve pulled together some suggested routes, tried and tested by our team to get you started. Check them out below!
Safari 5K
Strut your stuff with the Safari 5k!
Take a trip around a town or city centre to see as many sculptures as possible, and see how many you can tick off your list.
Our recommended route is Weston Park, Leaveygreave Road, City Hall, Arundel Gate, Sheffield Station, The Moor, Pinstone Street and ending in the Peace Gardens.
Savannah 10k
Walk on the wild side with the Savannah 10k.
Go from the outer city to the centre, from park to park or from your house to a sculpture location – there’s plenty to see and lots of routes to take.
Our recommended route is Norfolk Park, New Era Square, Pounds Park, City Hall, Tudor Square, Hallam Square, Henderson’s Relish Factory and ending in Weston Park.
Serengeti 40k
Mane character energy!
The Serengeti 40k is an almost-marathon distance and could see you striding across the whole of South Yorkshire, and passing almost all of the sculptures on the trail
Those taking on this mammoth distance could travel from Our Cow Molly in Dungworth to Boston Castle in Rotherham, and then on to Yorkshire Wildlife Park, or go from Penistone Paramount to Crystal Peaks, and then head over to Norfolk Park before finishing with a quick lap round the park. The possibilities are endless… which route will you choose?

When you sign up for Stride for the Pride, we’ll send you a FREE sports top [if you sign up before 31 August] so you can strut in style this summer.
As a thank you, when you raise £100 we’ll also send you an exclusive Pride of Yorkshire baseball cap – only available to our superstar steppers taking part in Stride for the Pride. There’s also a prize for the highest fundraiser at the end of the trail.

Fundraising
All funds raised from Stride for the Pride will support the transformation of the Emergency Department at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
From sore tummies and broken bones, to life-threatening injuries and illnesses, the Emergency Department is where families come on some of the worst days of their lives.
Built in 1977 to see 24,000 patients a year, the current Emergency Department now sees over 62,000 children and young people annually. Whilst its teams deliver exceptional care, the currently environment is no longer suitable to meet the demand.
Pride of Yorkshire will help to create purpose-built clinical environments, to improve patient flow and reduce wait times, to enhanced privacy and family experiences, and create spaces for high-quality care for patients with additional needs.

FAQs
General
Q. Do I have to follow a specific route?
A. No! The route you choose for your challenge is up to you, so long as you’re out and stepping, the where is your decision!
Q. What is the Facebook group?
A. The Stride for the Pride Facebook Group is the best way for you to keep in touch with your fellow challenge participants, get inspiration and motivation, and see how others are progressing. You will be automatically invited to join the group when you register and link your Facebook.
Q. Do I need to provide proof of distance?
A. Nope, we trust you to tackle the challenge your own way. It’s a great idea to show your progress to your own fundraising page or the Facebook group (or both!) to let supporters know how you’re getting on. We recommend taking pictures of the lions you meet along the way to bring some colour to your updates.
Q. Can I do this as part of a group?
A. Absolutely. We recommend setting up a joint fundraising page and editing the information on it to reflect you’re doing it as a team. Then everybody would be able to share your page!
Q. Is there a registration fee?
A. No, signing up for Stride for the Pride is completely free. We encourage you to raise £100 so you can get your paws on your exclusive Pride of Yorkshire baseball cap – but are so grateful for any funds you manage to raise!
Q. Is there a registration deadline?
A. Stride for the Pride will run until Sunday 7 September, when the trail is due to end. However, we encourage all supporters to register as soon as possible to receive their top before the deadline of 31 August. We will still accept new registrations after this date, but unfortunately this won’t account for a free top.
Q. Is there an age limit?
A. No, there is no age limit! People of all ages and abilities can take part in Stride for the Pride and raise money for Pride of Yorkshire.
T-shirts and Incentives
Q. When will I receive my free sports top?
A. Once you’ve registered and set up a fundraising page, you will receive a free Team Theo sports top in the post. Please allow time for us to process the registrations and for them to arrive via 2nd class post.
Q. When will I receive my exclusive Pride of Yorkshire cap?
A. Once your fundraising hits £100, our team will get your cap packaged up and on its way to you. Please allow time for us to process the order and for the cap to arrive via 2nd class post.
Fundraising
Q. Where will be fundraising go?
A. Funds raised during Stride for the Pride will contribute to the transformation of the Emergency Department at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. More information about the transformation can be found on the Funding Page.
Q. Can I choose where my fundraising will go?
A. If you would prefer your fundraising to support a specific ward, project or department, please email events@sheffieldchildrens.org and we can discuss options. Thank you for your generous support.
