Forrest was inspired by walks through Sheffield’s ancient woodlands.
Imagine a lion prowling through the trees as the seasons change – the leaves turn golden and fall, the snow appears and the hills become white. It gradually gets warmer, the swifts return, the oaks and chestnuts burst into leaf and the moors are purple with heather.
This lion celebrates the wonderful green and wild places in Sheffield and the seven hills on which it is built. Can you see them in the background?
The artist
Judy Randle
Judy Randle is a keen observer of how nature and the landscape change with the seasons. Painting mainly in acrylics, her inspirations are the woods and moors near her home in Sheffield, the dramatic Yorkshire and Scottish coasts, and her love of walking and wild places.
Judy has regularly exhibited her work in Sheffield and beyond, including Art in the Garden, Heritage Open Days and Open Up Sheffield, and invites you to wander along the paths to discover the patterns of nature.

The REASON
Pride of Yorkshire supports children like Harmony from Sheffield.
Harmony receives treatment from the Respiratory Service at Sheffield Children’s for Bronchiectasis, a rare and lifelong condition, and Tracheomalacia, which causes the windpipe to collapse.
