Help Pride of Yorkshire roar loud and proud for all to hear
We’re on the lookout for brilliant people to join our Pride and support Pride of Yorkshire by volunteering their time, and helping to make this campaign a roaring success.
Pride of Yorkshire is Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity’s most ambitious campaign yet. This 300-sculpture strong art trail will unite the region in a celebration of art, community and Yorkshire pride, and will bring colour and creativity to Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster throughout the summer of 2026.
We’re now looking for an incredible team of volunteers to support us in making it happen. Whether you prefer to work behind-the-scenes completing practical tasks, or want to be in the spotlight helping us to set-up and run events – there’s a role for you.
Volunteering for Pride of Yorkshire is a chance to be part of something truly special, to meet new people, and will help Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity in making a real different for children and families right across South Yorkshire and beyond.
We’re looking to hear from people with a range of skills, availability of interests. Below, you’ll find a list of roles for volunteers within Pride of Yorkshire and links to fill in our Get Involved form.
Den Keeper
Get hands-on behind the scenes of the Pride of Yorkshire trail.
As a Den Keeper, you’ll help in our Sheffield city centre warehouse with tasks like welcoming artists, assisting with sculpture handling and photography, and preparing sculptures for display.
When: Weekdays, October 2025 – March 2026 (morning or afternoon shifts available).
Where: The Moor, Sheffield.
Good for: Friendly, reliable volunteers who don’t mind practical tasks and wrapping up warm.
Mane Mover
Support our team with events for Pride of Yorkshire.
As a Mane Mover, you’ll be loading/unloading sculptures and event kit, setting up and packing down event spaces, and (for approved drivers) driving the charity van.
When: Ad-hoc, September 2025 – October 2026.
Where: Across Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham & Doncaster.
Good for: Practical volunteers (aged 25+ with full UK licence if driving) who are confident with lifting, logistics, and teamwork.
Roar Runner
Be the link that keeps the Pride of Yorkshire trail moving.
As a Roar Runner, you’ll be delivering merchandise to outlets, supporting with event set-up and helping to transport sculptures and equipment across South Yorkshire.
When: Ad-hoc, Jan – Sept 2026.
Where: Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley & Doncaster.
Good for: Reliable drivers (full UK licence required) who enjoy independent, practical roles and don’t mind some lifting.
Pride of Yorkshire HQ
Practical tasks that make the trail run.
At Mane HQ, you might find yourself packing maps and fundraising kits, getting event materials ready or writing letters. This is a calm, behind-the-scenes role that’s perfect for lovers of practical tasks.
When: Weekdays, early 2026 (flexible sessions).
Where: Charity HQ, Sheffield.
Good for: Organised, detail-focused volunteers who enjoy task-based work in a small team.
Trail Ranger
Keep our sculptures looking their best throughout the trail.
Trail Rangers check in on sculptures across South Yorkshire, support trail maintenance, report damages or issues, and lend a hand at the big overnight installs and de-installs.
When: June – Sept 2026 (ad-hoc, with optional overnight install/de-install).
Where: Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley & Doncaster.
Good for: Reliable, practical volunteers who enjoy being active, outdoors, and part of a hands-on team.
Mane Event Crew
Lions, camera, action! Help us make our events unforgettable.
Mane Event Crew volunteers will help with event set-up, welcoming guests, supporting auctions, serving refreshments, or making sure everything runs smoothly at key events like sponsor evenings, the trail farewell, and the big auction night.
When: Ad-hoc across 2026.
Where: Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham & Doncaster.
Good for: Outgoing, reliable volunteers who enjoy event buzz and working with people.
Roar Raisers
Spread the word about the trail and support with fundraising.
Roar Raisers promote the trail in their communities, swap collection tins, hand out leaflets, and take part in bucket collections at busy trail spots and events. This is a flexible and varied role which enables you to choose the times and days that best suit you.
When: Jan – Sept 2026 (flexible, ad-hoc).
Where: Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham & Doncaster.
Good for: Outgoing, enthusiastic volunteers who enjoy chatting to people and being active in their community.
