The Terminator Line is the line that divides the night and the day, sunrise and sunset, light and dark.
It’s the moment in the day when light and shadows can shake hands and perform their dance before either one vanishes.
As the world prepares to rest, sunset is prime time for the animal kingdom. Dusk and dawn are when lions are most active, and they can be heard heralding in the nighttime once the light starts to fade.
The artist
Nick Newman
Nick Newman lives and works in Sheffield and, having studied photography at the London Metropolitan University, took up painting later in life and is self-taught.
Working in oil paint, Nick Newman uses colour as an attention seeker, drawing the viewer in to hear the melody winding its way through the improvised impasto. His work follows abstractedly through the forests of Post-Impressionism and German Expressionism, and catches glimmers of Van Gogh, Gauguin and Kirchner.
