Taking colours, textures, and shapes from discarded cutlery found at the former cutlery factory, Portland Works, The Portland Lion is adorned with rusty oranges and teals of oxidised copper.
This design brings to life the history of making in Sheffield, and the journey of that tradition as makers work together to create something new from something old.
Portland Works artists Linda, Sue, Mary, and Jenny have woven in references to the history, features, and faces of the unique building they work within.
