Nick Newman lives and works in Sheffield and, having studied photography at the London Metropolitan University, took up painting later in life and is self-taught.

Working in oil paint, Nick Newman uses colour as an attention seeker, drawing the viewer in to hear the melody winding its way through the improvised impasto. His work follows abstractedly through the forests of Post-Impressionism and German Expressionism, and catches glimmers of Van Gogh, Gauguin and Kirchner.
