We’re so lucky to live near so many breathtaking green spaces, and artist Ant Clifford took inspiration from the moorlands and uplands in the South Yorkshire side of the Peak District.
Bringing in the rich colours and shifting light of the landscape, he uses thick acrylic applied with a palette knife to create a textured finish that echoes the wild characteristics of the Peaks: tumbling boulders, wild grass and crinkles of heather as far as the eye can see.
The artist
Ant Clifford
Ant Clifford is a Sheffield-based artist, designer, and creative director whose artistic style is bold and physical, working with thick acrylics and a palette knife to build rich textures and shifting tones.
He draws inspiration from the South Yorkshire side of the Peak District – the wild moorlands, upland ridges, and open skies on Sheffield’s western edge. These are landscapes he knows well from walking with his family, and feature often in his work as layered impressions of colour, light, and atmosphere.
