At Bassetts’ factory, Lord Liquorice Roaralot shook the sweets every time he let out a mighty roar.
One rainy Sunday, his loudest call echoed all the way to Wentworth Woodhouse – over hills and trees, across valley and rivers. Waiting at Wentworth was Lady Allsorts, who journeyed miles to meet him, and when she saw the blue-bobbled lion, her heart melted like toffee.
From that day, South Yorkshire had two sweet legends!
