Through the use of an art technique known as perspective anamorphosis, artist Rob Lee brings colour palettes inspired by the lion’s habitat to its striking form, creating an optical illusion.
The silhouette of the lion repeats concentrically to its centre, creating an image deeper than the desert and more sunken than the savannah.
These bold colours and clean lines draw you in closer to OutLion but don’t worry, he won’t bite!

Rob Lee
Rob Lee is a multidisciplinary graphic artist based in Sheffield specialising in geometric mural art. His work emphasises precision, abstraction, pattern, colour theory and optical illusion, and draws inspiration from architecture, technology, science fiction, human perception and natural geometry.
Over the past decade, he has completed numerous commercial, private and public art commissions worldwide, with a particular passion for large-scale public murals. Across Sheffield and beyond, his art encourages us to see differently through depth, harmony and imagination.
