Location
Shíshī, meaning “stone lion” in Chinese, are mythical guardian lions that act as fierce protectors.
They are traditionally placed outside of buildings to guard all who reside within, and the female lion is identified by a lion cub beneath her paw – symbolising nurturing and protection.
Artist Definitely Jenny has created Sheffield’s very own Shíshī, using themes of strength, guardianship and unity as her inspiration. With her cub playing around her paw, the Shíshī ready to protect anyone under her care.

Jenny is an illustrator who has created work for murals, editorial, independent publishing and events. Interested in drawing from an early age, Jenny has always been inspired by animals – spending hours redrawing scenes from wildlife documentaries and library books.
Recently, Jenny’s work has started to be influenced by her Hong Kong heritage and culture, and is always tied together with her love of colour, quirky characters and sense of fun.
