Location
Steely gets his name from Sheffield’s steel industry and was inspired by its renown for carefully crafting the tools we use every single day. He’s a celebration of ingenuity, design and invention, and pays homage to the makers and crafters who took a functional item and made it beautiful.
The design was sparked by a wedding gift from artist Sara Budzik’s uncle – a Sheffield steel cutlery set he called “the best in the world.”
Two decades later, it’s still as sharp and beautiful as the day she received it.
The artist
Sara Budzik
Sara usually works in clay, creating ceramic sculptures inspired by the natural world and the creatures we share our planet with. Her work aims to connect us with the joy and wonder of nature to encourage us to protect it.
Sara is thrilled to be part of the Pride of Yorkshire, having studied for her degree at Bretton Hall College. She loves how the trail will place art directly into the heart of Yorkshire, integrating into people’s everyday lives. Sara hopes that it will be an uplifting experience for all and encourage people to seek out more art in their lives.
