Bring your pride together and host a Pride of Yorkshire picnic for Sheffield Children’s!

This summer, the UK’s BIGGEST sculpture trail is setting 150 lions loose across the region from June to September 2026. Pride of Yorkshire is proudly presented by Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, and will raise vital funds to help Sheffield Children’s deliver world-class care for every child, everywhere.

What is a Pride Picnic?

A Pride Picnic is a chance to GO WILD and raise money while enjoying a classic summertime supper!

Bring your pride together for great food and great company, and help make the difference.

This can be a cub-sized event for your closest family and friends, or you can go big like the King of the Jungle and invite everyone you know!

You can choose the location too, from your back garden to your local park, or your living room on a rainy day. You could even choose one of our lion sculptures to visit for your Picnic.

There are so many ways to turn your feast into a fundraiser, and the charity team can help to provide resources and ideas to make your Pride Picnic roar.

How to raise money

When you focus on having fun, fundraising is easy! Here are just a few ideas on how you can raise money at your Pride Picnic:

• Ask your Pride to chip in – ask for a £2 donation to attend
• Guess the name of the Lion – Get a toy lion or lioness and give them a name. Charge your picnic pals £1 to guess its name from a square grid answer sheet.
• Plan your own sweepstake – Use our sweepstake poster to plan your own challenge. From guessing the sweets in a jar, to getting closest to the number of times they say Mufasa in The Lion King (spoiler alert – it’s 11).
• Best dressed – Ask your guests to dress in a theme of your choice. From ‘A Walk on the Wild Side’ to ‘Lion or Lioness Realness’, any theme will do! Charge everyone £1 to enter the competition and crown the best dressed in your pride!
• Host a raffle – Ask local companies for prizes and sell tickets to your guests. You will need to draw the raffle on the same day as you sell tickets, and you should make sure your raffle is within the guidelines provided by the Fundraising Regulator and Gambling Commission.
• Set up a JustGiving page – Collect donations online and use a QR code for your picnic so your guests can scan and donate on the day. When you set up your JustGiving page, a QR code will automatically be generated for you. All you need to do is download this and either print it off or have it easily available on your device for others to scan.
